About Us
The Galesburg Road Runners club is the local chapter of the Road Runners Club of America. GRRC meets Tuesdays at 6 PM for fun runs at Lincoln Park in Galesburg, from April through September. GRRC promotes running as a means of good health, self-satisfaction and improvement, fellowship and friendly competition in area road races. Membership in GRRC is open to all persons regardless of age, sex, ethnic origin or ability.
GRRC sponsors three main running events in Galesburg; the Carl Sandburg College 4 and 2 mile runs and Kids Prairie Dash in April, Railroad Days 5K Run June, and the Turkey Trot 5K in November. There are also club newsletters, RRCA Membership and RRCA quarterly newsletter, eligibility to participate in the Grand Prix Race Circuit, Annual Banquet, GRRC races with membership discounts, Weekly Fun Runs with Refreshments, hash runs and other events, discounts at The Foot Locker, Running Wild in Davenport and Running Central in Peoria. Annual dues for 2001 in the Galesburg Road Runners Club are $10 with $1.25 of this amount going for a subscription to the Road Runner Club of America's quarterly magazine Foot Notes. Members also receive nine local newsletters containing an area race calendar, and results of fellow members, club activities and editorials.
